....an organization filled with pride and love!

We were founded in 1917 at New York University's Law School by five women - Dorothy Cohen Schwartzman, Ida Bienstock Landau, Minna Goldsmith Mahler, Eva Effron Robin, and Sylvia Steierman Cohn.

We are the first international nonsectarian social sorority, meaning we do not discriminate based on class, race, religious affiliation, sexuality, or creed. We are welcoming and inclusive of trans women and non-binary individuals in all areas of the organization as long as they are willing to accept and share in the collective experiences of the sisterhood. We believe sisterhood is not to be withheld because of our differences, but strengthened by our unique perspectives and talents. We are also the only national social sorority founded at a professional school.

We have grown to a sisterhood of 106 chapters, both national and international, and are more than 55,000 sisters strong! We work together to embody the vision of our founders and to embolden and empower ourselves as educated women.
